As one of the top specialists in the field of Phlebology in the United States Dr. Zimmet was one of the members of the American College of Phlebology (ACP) in the 1990's.  Later he became a member of the education committee, then the board of directors, and now he is president-elect.  Soon he will be the president of the ACP.

     Dr. Zimmet was recently awarded the First Place Platinum Abstract Award at the 16th Annual Congress of the American College of Phlebology. He has physicians from around the US and other countries frequently visit to learn about the latest techniques in the field.  He helped in obtaining FDA approval of the technique of Endovenous Laser Treatment(EVLT) of varicose veins.  Dr. Zimmet was the first physician in Texas to perform the Closure procedure and the first in the world to have done both Closure and EVLT.
